Final Demand: Urgent Resolution of Delayed Funeral Claim – Claim 473935

Dear Sanlam Claims Department,

I write to you with serious concern regarding the unacceptable delay in the processing of my claim (Reference: Claim 473935), which was submitted on the 30th of March 2026 for the late Ntswaki Ngamlana.

Your correspondence clearly states that funeral and immediate expense claims are to be finalised within 48 hours upon receipt of all required documentation. Despite this, and despite the funeral having already taken place on the 4th of April 2026, no payment has been made to date, nor have I received a satisfactory explanation for the delay.

This situation has placed my family under severe financial strain during a period of grief, and the lack of urgency and communication from your office is both distressing and unacceptable.

I hereby demand the following:

Immediate confirmation of the current status of my claim

Written clarification of any outstanding requirements (if any) within 24 hours

Urgent finalisation and payment of the claim without any further delay

Should this matter not be resolved promptly, I will have no option but to escalate the issue to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and the Ombudsman for Long-term Insurance for formal investigation and intervention.

I trust that this matter will now receive the urgency and attention it deserves.

Yours sincerely,Smanga NgamlanaCell: ***Email: ***

Reviewer Update
Good day Sanlam Client Care,
This matter is now beyond unacceptable.
I have already provided all the required information, including the deceased’s full name and ID number. Despite this, there has been no progress, no payment, and no clear communication regarding my claim (***), which was submitted on the 30th of March 2026.
Your own policy states that funeral claims are finalised within 48 hours after receiving all required documentation. My younger sister’s funeral took place on the 4th of April 2026, yet to date, you have failed to honour this commitment.
This delay is not only unprofessional but has caused serious financial hardship and emotional distress to my family during a period of grief. The lack of urgency and accountability from your side is unacceptable.
Take this as a final notice:
  • Either provide immediate proof of payment and finalisation of this claim, or
  • Provide a valid written explanation within 24 hours
If this matter is not resolved immediately, I will escalate it without further notice to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and the Ombudsman for Long-term Insurance, and pursue all available legal avenues.
I expect urgent resolution.
