EMERGENCY SAVING WITHDRAWAL IS STILL ONGOING 5 MONTHS LATER....

Sanlam's concept of an "emergency savings" withdrawal is an absolute joke. I have been fighting to get my funds released for six excruciating weeks, and this process has in fact been ongoing since January 2026. The entire point of this facility is to provide relief during an actual emergency, yet Sanlam operates with zero urgency and little regard for the financial stress experienced by its clients.

One of the biggest obstacles has been the requirement for documentation from my previous employer. I informed Sanlam that my former employer went into liquidation in February 2026 and that the company was no longer operational. Despite providing this information, I was repeatedly directed to obtain signatures and documentation from a company that no longer exists. After months of delays and no practical assistance from Sanlam in resolving the issue, I ultimately had to find someone myself to sign the required documentation in order to move the process forward.

Despite providing the required documentation, I later received an email from the broker stating that there were still "outstanding documents." he has been of assistance the broker but took months to find out who he is and contact details. This reflects a serious breakdown in communication and administration. Documents that have been submitted appear not to have been properly recorded or processed.

The entire experience has been frustrating, exhausting, and completely inconsistent with what one would expect from an emergency withdrawal process. If clients are expected to rely on these funds during a genuine financial crisis, then delays stretching over months are simply unacceptable.
