Could not CANCEL!
I took a policy with a broker Maryke Liebenber who gave me great service to start off with. It was however when I encountered a few financial constraints and could no longer afford the cover, there was a problem with cancelling. The cancellation letter was sent to her before the start date and she said she required 30 days notice before the policy incepted which was strange because I work for a well-known financial institution and am fully aware that this should not be the case. I was not even informed of the increase in premium after the medicals were done! So, to my surprise, a premium was deducted 02/10/2017 with a higher amount than expected and on the wrong date as I mentioned the debit date was supposed to be the 25th and it was supposed to only commence on 25/10/2017! so needless to say, I am extremely irate! I want this amount returned to me I want this policy to state that it was cancelled and not lapsed. I want my bank charges reversed for the payment that went off in November. I want a letter to confirm that this will not affect my ITC as I was advised by the broker to consult my bank for a reversal as apparently Sanlam could not assist with the refund. I have all my email correspondence and want this matter resolved!

I refer to your complaint which you have posted earlier.
I have checked the documentation that you have signed and the higher premium was quoted on the quotation. I have also noticed that Sanlam Head Office sent you a letter dated 25 July 2017, after the risk plan was approved. In the said letter the premium of the plan as well as the inception date of 1 October 2017 was confirmed and the first premium deduction date of 1 October 201 7 was also confirmed. The plan document was sent to you after this. In the plan document it was mentioned that you could still cancel the plan within the cooling off period of 30 days if you are not satisfied with it. The cooling off date quoted in the plan document is 30 August 2017. Sanlam received your cancellation request by email on 30 October 2017, which was already too late to stop the 1 November premium. Sanlam can unfortunately not stand in for any charges in this regard. This is the reason why you were advised to stop it at the bank. We confirm that the cancellation of the policy will not affect your ITC in any way.
