Continuing to deduct premiums off a deceased's account

My wife passed away in February 2017. She had Sanlam disability cover. Upon receiving the death certificate, I forwarded it to Sanlam, requesting that they cancel the debit order for the premiums.

Sanlam, however, chose to ignore my request. The debit order at the end of March was deducted again on 1 April. So I used their complaints facility and complained about the debit order going off, and received a reference number for my complaint.

On 1 May, you guessed it, Sanlam completely ignored my request, and AGAIN debited her account with the same debit order, in spite of my complaint.

The scale of the gross indifference and incompetence at Sanlam is truly mind-boggling.
