assupol ****** and *******

I've had a policy with Assupol for more than 4 years now, in fact i took the policy with dignity and all this confusing under writing business i found that the policy was with Assupol. i do not remember how much the policy was for but i do remember at some point it was R133 for a cover of R50 000 and was currently at R146. i had tolerated these increases against the fact that i had requested the sales person to provide me with a policy that was not linked. i was sent a notice that the policy would go up in July and assumed that it was the usual 10% annual increase only to find out that the policy went up by 100% overnight my premium was no longer R146 but R292 for one person for the same cover amount. i believe the cover amount was calculated looking at the risk factors including the age of a person. if now i am paying R300 for the same cover amount how much will it be in five years time, will that cover still be sufficient.

the consultant that i spoke with kept saying that he understands my problem but the insurance has a right to increase premiums which ever way they see fit. everything is going up so i should understand.

my problem is after so many years that i have been paying for a policy the insurance can simply decide to to increase a premium by 100%. i have paid over R100 000 on the policy already money that i could have simply paid at another honest company that would consider my needs better than assupol. what ever i will be paying now is a bonus to what assupol will give me. i am crying a bitter cry for my money that i have wasted because in south Africa we have no advocate. anybody can do as the please.
