Sanitech - Bullying Tactics of a Multi-National

I am sure you can appreciate and understand my frustration with Sanitech and the dishonest manner in which my matter has been dealt with. My son was involved in an accident in which a Sanitech vehicle rear ended his car. He is a student who was on way to varsity and agreed at the time of the accident, with the Sanitech driver, that he was leaving the scene as he had an assessment that could not be missed that morning. As my son is a student with limited time and resources available, I took it upon myself to try and assist him with this matter. I made contact with the Sanitech Op manager who requested that I obtain, amongst other, 3 quotes from panel beaters for the repairs. In one of the conversations where he followed up on the quotes that were outstanding he made mention of the fact that there is the option of having the car repaired at their repair centre, I think he may have mentioned airport industrial. After supplying all the necessary documentation, he informed me that he would make contact with me in due course. After not hearing from him for 3 days I tried calling him. He eventually answered his mobile and promised to get back to me. I then received a whatsap message where he simply sent me an unknown phone number, followed by another message with a person’s name, followed by another message informing me to now liaise with this person? I cannot understand from being the sole contact for over a month, being extremely polite and practically nagging for the quotes, to not communicating at all? I then made contact with this person whose number was messaged to me (this person was from the Sanitech insurance). To my surprise I was then informed that I should claim for the damages to the car from a third person/party and not Sanitech? The fact that they would pay or repair the car was not up for discussion.

My disgust and disappointment I have with Sanitech is the fact that at no stage during any of the communication was mention made of a third party claim? I have tried to communicate with 2 directors, with not much joy, and was simply passed along to someone else from the Sanitech office and then once again to their insurance who informed me to claim from a third person. At one stage person from the insurance who contacted me informed me that it will be of no use taking the matter further with the NCC as they will not be able to assist my son. The manner in which Sanitech behaved is pure bullying. It appears to me that someone saw an opportunity to not reimburse or repair a student’s car as students are not in the best position to take on Multi-Nationals such as Sanitech. Very sad moment.
