SANI SIXT DOES NOT COVER THIRD PARTY INSURANCE
My vehicle was damaged by a SANI SIXT rental vehicle (registration MP 46 VG GP) after the driver struck my stationary, parked vehicle and left the scene without reporting the collision on 7th July 2026. I followed relevant procedures with the police report, and my insurance. SANI was formally notified of this collision on 10 July 2026, while the rental contract was still active by the same renter. SANI then now advised me that the renter breached the rental agreement by failing to report the incident, purportedly invalidating third-party coverage. Despite being explicitly informed of the incident and the renter's breach before the vehicle was returned, SANI permitted the vehicle return, released the deposit, and closed the file without contacting me or my insurer. SANI’s subsequent position that recovery is unlikely due to the renter being a foreign national, is a direct result of SANI’s own failure to preserve the deposit or secure foreign driver documentation upon being notified. As an innocent third party, I have suffered direct financial loss (including insurance excess and uninsured losses) due to SANI’s failure to take reasonable administrative steps after receiving actual notice of the damage. Please advise within 7 business days how SANI intends to remedy the losses caused by its handling of this matter. Failing a satisfactory resolution, I will escalate this complaint to the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (MIOSA) and explore formal legal remedies to recover my damages.
