INCONSIDERATION
On the 08 May 2025, my husband Christopher Dunn(ID ***) hired a car. Then on the 12 May 2025 we renewed our lease as tragedy struck our family my brother suddenly passed on and we had to go to Jhb for the funeral. On the day of the funeral you requested a photo of the mileage. We then sent it through. We then received a message that we are over 200km and must pay that immediately if not they will recover the car and we will be liable for a penalty of R5000.00 plus costs. At this point we still had to more days before our contract expired and we were going to renew the lease because we needed to stay with our family in this most difficult time. As per contract we were allowed 3 renewals. My husband then said but I am going to renew the lease and we also have 2 more days before the existing contract expires, so it will have free kilometres added. Please send through the contract for renewal. Of which they did npt and again said they will recover the car. We then hurriedly left at 4am leaving our family in morning to avoid the car being recovered. In our time of mourning we had to endure this kind of treatment, which to me is not necessary as we were within our rights.
