I took my Mercedes E350 to Sandown Motors in Sandton for a service and told them I also had the brake warning light.
On inspection they found there was a problem with the power steering and gave me a quote of R32,000 to do the service and effect the repairs.
I accepted the quote and they went ahead with the service, but advised they didn't have the spare parts for the repairs.
So I took back the car and paid for the service and booked the car back in for the repairs on 29th February.
When doing the repairs they found a diagnostic that another part was needed for the brakes and as this was critical I accepted their quote for R9,000 for this part. However, they didn't have stock so had to order the part from Ladysmith which would be in the workshop the next day. They didn't order the part until Wednesday and only completed the job on Thursday. When I came to pay the bill they charged me R15,000 for the part that was quoted at R9,000 and made it clear that either I paid the full amount or I would not get my car back.
As a pensioner to get dumped with an extra R6,000 out of the blue I find absolutely disgusting.
