Misleading the Public
I feel that I need to share my experience with Sandown Lodge with you.
In the beginning of the year I googled accommodation in Hout bay. I wrote down a couple of them and phoned. One of the places I phone was Sandown lodge. I told the receptionist that I was looking for accommodation in Hout bay for July. She told me that they have a room available but should we decide to book the accommodation, we have to pay the deposit within 7 days and the outstanding amount 2 weeks prior to our arrival. I requested an invoice from them that was sent to my husband and our deposit was paid.
On Monday I contacted them to confirm that all was in order. The manager answered the phone and I asked if they are the guesthouse in Hout Bay, to which he started giggling and rep**** no we are in Rondebosch. I told him that that can’t be correct as per my enquiry with the receptionist, I was told that they are in Hout Bay. He said that they are about 20min away and that it is not so far apart. He asked the name of the receptionist I spoke with and told him that I left my notes at the office but will contact him tomorrow.
Yesterday I took out my notes and phoned the accommodation and spoke to the other manager. I was informed by her that they are in Cape Town and that they will not tell someone that they are in Hout Bay if they are not. The more I tried to explain to her that that is what happened the more she told me that it was my own fault and that I should have look at the invoice. I told her that the invoice was sent to my husband for payment and that I never saw it. She said it is my problem and that the receptionist is not in and it is my word against hers. This has left a bad taste in my mouth.
I urge everyone that is considering making a reservation with Sandown Lodge to ensure that you receive confirmation of everything that was said in writing. They will never admit to any wrong doing and will blame you.
