Sandi Sackstein: A Proven Con Artist

Review of Sandi Sackstein, Landlord of 37 Sunset Avenue, Llandudno, Cape Town

I had the misfortune of renting a separate entrance apartment from Sandi Sackstein at 37 Sunset Avenue, Llandudno, and my experience was nothing short of appalling.

From the outset, the property was poorly maintained, yet I was encouraged by Sandi to assist with its upkeep in exchange for a reduction in the R20,000 monthly rent, which was significantly overpriced. Trusting her word, I undertook extensive renovations and maintenance at my own expense, under the impression that it would lead to a fair adjustment in rent. However, despite my significant efforts to improve a property that had reportedly been neglected for over 30 years, Sandi refused to honor her agreement, providing no compensation for my work.

Shockingly, Sandi proceeded to rent out the same apartment to another tenant just before leaving for a two-month holiday in Thailand. The new tenant was left stranded, out of money, and without a place to live. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue, the young woman was forced to return to Johannesburg, deeply hurt and frustrated.

During my time there, neighbors approached me to express their gratitude for the improvements I had made, acknowledging the property’s prior state of disrepair. They also warned me about Sandi's reputation for withholding tenants’ deposits, a concern that unfortunately proved valid.

When I moved out, having parted on seemingly reasonable terms, I expected the return of my R40,000 deposit (equivalent to two months' rent). After two months of silence and repeated attempts to contact her, Sandi finally responded, falsely accusing me of property damage and refusing to return my deposit. She has since ignored all further messages and emails.

Subsequent research revealed a troubling pattern of behavior, with Sandi Sackstein also linked to *****ulent weight-loss ****s, including Be-Trim and Organo-Slim, which have reportedly de*****ed numerous people in South Africa over the last 30 years.

I strongly advise anyone considering renting from or engaging with Sandi Sackstein to proceed with extreme caution. In my opinion and based on my experience, her actions are deceptive and *********, causing unnecessary financial and emotional harm.

Beware: Sandi Sackstein is not a trustworthy landlord or individual.
