They are truly not interested in solving problems borught to their attention

I am a tenant in a building in BoKaap, Cape Town. Our electricity bill has always been high, but that has been historical, and I never understood it was wrong. That was until we had the Covid Lockdown, when we closed our doors on March 25th and we are still closed.

To my surprise, at the end of April, we received an electricity bill for quite a lot higher than our normal usage. I complained and said this was clearly wrong, since we had only been in our office 1/3 of the month, yet our bill was higher than ever. The response from SLT, who sends me the bills/statements every month was they would look into it. That was all I heard. The next month (for bill end of May) when we had not been in the building at all, we received a statements showing electricity had not been estimated so they would send out estimates later. That never happened. Come now end of June bill, and wow, we have been charged for 1200 units of electricity, when we have not been in the office for even a single minute. I complained, and CC'ed the managing director into the email, and fair enough he responded to me over the weekend. However, he simply said that it was the estimators who calculate the electricity. It turns out that we are being charged a fee of R1927 a month to "read the meter". One response I got from SLT was that this was a commercial building and therefore this is what the city charged. This company has no interest in solving the problems for the tenants in this building. Avoid using these people, as they truly don't care.
