Today I went N1 City in Cape Town to donate blood. what a nightmare, firstly for a person not around from Cape Town the Google maps should be improved. At the SANBS centre it makes no sense to say people should fill in the questionnaire outside because of COVID regulations however social distancing isn't observed, there were 5 plastic chairs(3 on one side & 2 on the other) very close to one another which defeated the purpose of social distancing, it bothered me the fact I'm told to sit outside and have someone sit right on top me of during this pandemic. It totally pointless because they are saying outside our premises we don't care if you social distance or not of which I ended up filling in the form standing up at a distance. the nurse who prepped and injected the needle was not at all gentle and when I signaled ouch she asked me when was the last time I donated of which that was condescending, when I told her she said she doesn't know what kind of needles they are using in Potchefstroom... how about being gentle for starters, I shouldn't feel like a cattle being slaughtered at a abattoir. Donating blood should not feel like you are actually been done a favour donating. Honestly I don't have to but I do it anyways even though my morals and values goes against the idea of knowing I'm giving/donating my blood(saving lives) at no cost but SANBS on the other hand they bill patients my blood. I won't even mention the sunblock & masks I was given as a gift, I returned those things as I felt they are no different to option juice and biscuits or perhaps it was me just me cause a girl donating for the first got something different. Ja no I wish I had not bothered to donate in the Western Cape N1 City Centre and would definitely not recommending it to any family or friend because of their poor service. Only 1 person was polite and kinda made me feel comfortable was the gentleman with the braids, the rest especially the Sarah nurse need to work on their personal/treatment skills.
