Washing machine broke down straight after a Samsung technician "repaired" it
A week ago our Samsung washing machine stopped draining the water from the load. We logged the issue with Samsung. The technician who came and looked at the machine said the pump needed to be replaced. We paid R500 for the callout and R500 for the pump. He said he tested the machine and it was working. That day we put on a load and when it went into the spin cycle the machine began shaking and clanking furiously. We called the guy back, and he said the problem was now the bearings, and that we might as well buy a new machine (straight after paying someone R1000 to “fix” it). He said it was “just bad luck” that a new problem suddenly arose the minute he fixed the original problem. I hope you can appreciate that the statistical chances of that are close to zero, and that the simplest explanation – in fact, the only reasonable explanation – was that the new problem happened as a result of whatever this guy did when he came to repair it.
We’ve never had an issue with Samsung before – in fact, many of our appliances are Samsung and we are very happy with them. But this machine has been an exception. It has given us problems from the beginning. Even when it was new, it would rip the clothes every so often. And now, on top of paying R1000 for a Samsung technician to break the machine, we have to fork out another few thousand for a new appliance.
Please advise.
