Warranty **** to charge customers while phone less that 12 months old on R107000 S6

On 29 March 2016 I purchased a brand new Samsung S6 for R10600 from MTN.The phone worked fine all the time but I could never update the software for some reason from day 1. The phone never gave me problem apart from the short battery life like all previous Samsung phones that I owned.

The battery life got so bad that I decided to take it to Samsung Morningside for assessment and repairs. I go back to MTN where I paid cash for the phone and they reprinted the tax invoice to indicate the phone under 1 year old. Remember I work in PTA and take the gautrain so had to leave work at 2.30 to be at Samsung repair shop before 4.30pm. I get there and an agent attends to me and I explain the problem of unable to update software from day 1 and low battery life. She requests proof of payment and receipt that I produce and she checks the phone. To my horror, she immediately tells me that my phone has been rooted but cannot explain how or when. She checks the software and cannot find any problems or ******* software on the phone. I inform her that I was never able to update the software and could confirm the software version matched to the date of purchase.

I further tell her that I would not be so foolish to buy such an expensive phone and put ******* software to break it and void warrantee. She calls her manager to assist but he says that he cannot as the phone warrantee is not voided.I further inform that I had identity thefy from my old S4 Samsung so I never dowloaded anything to be safe. This phone is my work tool.

I leave the store very sad and go to MTN to see the Samsung consultant and MTN branch manager who are very helpful and suggest that I hand the phone in to them to have a second opinion. However there is nothing that can be done if warrantee is voided.

I am very unhappy as the phone works fine but the battery just dies. Help me please as I don’t have R4000 to pay for repairs to a phone that is still under warrantee.I researched this further and see that all countries around the world have similar problems and Samsung happily sorts their phones without any charge. It seems like foreign companies are here to take as much money out of country and rob us silly in the process. This is a total ******* and I refuse to pay.Next step is to report to the CPA and Communications Minsiter of this **** for further investigation and public exposure to help SA citizens.

Naresh

********** 231

Samsung Galaxy S6
