Warranty really valid only from Manufacture date??

I bought a laptop in 2013, round about End April/May. My hard drive crashed and as a good customer of Samsung, i turned to them. First of all the BIOS on my laptop explains that the laptop was purchased from Samsung directly from the supplier where I bought the laptop on 12 April, 2013. So, in essence the laptop as per the website is under warranty for 24 months. Hahahaha! The Manufacture date of the laptop is Sept, 2012. I was told that my warranty expired 24 months after manufacture date and not 24 months from purchase date. I lost my proof of payment and some people does not even know what the word BIOS means (F2 button when computer starts to see full description of laptop) to confirm date of purchase from Samsung. I am very disappointed and not satisfied with how this matter was handled. My laptop is still broken and no assistance regarding was given unless I pay for the services. Why should I pay if there is a warranty still on the laptop? Not happy and i want all to know that maybe you will be next in the line to experience what I experienced. Just a call to say\ Sorry we cant help you". Oh well... Now what? Will there be any assistance given? Think I should change my brand"""
