Warranty Cover Lies

Took out a cellphone contract in December 2015 - A Samsung Note 5 to be precise.

About 2 weeks ago, my phone refused to switch on. Phoned Samsung who referred me to a nearby authorised service centre.

Samsung claims that your phone has 24 months warranty. Yeah right! All blatant lies!!

I received a quotation for almost R5 200. The value of the phone is way less that!

And the phone is 19 months old.

Paying a monthly fee of R700 for a cellphone contract and for an inferior cellphone.

Now I am told that the tiny knock (which has been there for over a year) on the top side of the screen caused the entire LCD screen to crack (yet, when my phone momentarily switched on a few days ago) the screen was perfect! I then pressed the off key and it was then when it refused to switch back on again.

According to the service provider, the following needs to be replaced:

The LCD screen

The rear cover (which is in mint condition btw, however apparently it must also be replaced when you do a LCD screen replacement) as per Samsung Standards

The USB port…apparently it's also miraculously faulty now... Yet my phone was charging fine all along.

According to the provider, Samsung (the inferior brand) insists that the above replacements are done for all phones less than 24 month old.

The phone must be restored to its original condition, whether some replacements are necessary or not.

If the phone is older than 24 month’s old, you have the choice on what to replace.

So you sell me an inferior product…. I have a problem with it…you decide not to cover it as its ‘out’ of warranty (but I have 24 month’s warranty - confused ….you give instructions to service providers to fix devices to ‘your’ certain standard and I, the customer must pay the bill???

Oh btw, my Note 3 is 5 years old and still in 100% working order….not once did I have any issues with it!
