Sumsung Z2 Tizen Phone - DONT BE FOOLED!!

Don't be fooled into buying the Samsung Z2 Tizen. Despite the attractive price R1099 at most outlets you can get much better value for cheaper (try proprietary Vodacom or MTM phones around R600-R800) or just little bit more like the Experia E1. I was fooled into buying this phone from Vodacom but everyone is selling it at the moment. If you buy this phone you will regret it. Why?

- THIS IS NOT A ANDROID PHONE! It runs of Tizen 2.4.0.4. This is a open source OS which is OK if are in China! but not suitable for the South African market at all! Beware - no one will tell you this unless you ask! If you are not savvy enough to ask the right questions you will severely regret it.

- no Google Play Store! This one features Tizen Store, again ok if you are in China but it doesn't have any apps suitable for South Africa! Sorry, but you can't access any of your favourite apps! No Kindle, no Chrome, NO UBER!!, no nothing! What were you thinking! They have a page called Quick Access that looks like apps eg news24, OLX etc but again, don't be fooled, it's only Web short cuts!

- no Google Maps! Really? It uses something called HERE Maps, pathetic!

- WhatsApp DOESNT/WON'T WORK, I tried it over and over. It needs Facebook services to run and despite down loading it WhatsApp still won't work. If you open it it tells you: "This version of WhatsApp has expired. Please go to the App Store to update it." Select "Update WhatsApp" and you get to the Tizen Sore WhatsApp page. Select "open" the and you get the "this version has expired" message again. If you go to My Apps Update list? Sorry no update for WhatsApp there. Totally unusable. Check out all the recent complaints on the Tizen Store Whats App page, I am not the only one! Unbelievable!

I'll won't carry on but don't find out for yourself, check it out first before you buy and ASK the right questions.

I am truly disappointed in Vodacom that they would even feature a product like this. And since I opened the box already (actually they did in store) what is the chance they will take it back? Less than 0?

Shame on Samsung South Africa for allowing a phone like this onto the South African market. I Love Samsung but this left a bad taste.

I invite Vodacom or Samsung to correct me if any of the above information is inaccurate.
