Sumsung Warranty TV Repair Bungle

I bought a Sumsung 60 inch TV for R20 000 in December 2015, with a 2 year warranty. After 7 months the TV had a problem with a screen, which was producing a fading picture, fortunately, Sumsung came and replaced the screen with a new one. Two months on, on the 31st of Dec 2016, the same TV just blacked out, no picture but there was DSTV audio coming out. I immediately called Sumsung call centre and they promised to send a technician on the 3rd of January 2017.

The technician came as promised, diagonised the TV, then brought his mobile stand into the house to work on the TV. He turned it upside down, opened the back of the TV, while the screen was facing down (sitting on his mobile stand) and he then repalced the TV motherboard with a new one. He then turned the TV around, to test it.

He then shockingly announced to me that the TV had a big crack on the secreen, he then took out his camera to record the big crack. It was my first time to see the crack. But I asked him that if surely the crack was there beforehand, why did he work on the TV and replaced the motherboard? I then told him that he may have damaged the TV screen when he was working the TV.

The technician left the house and then Sumsung gave me a quotation of R22 000 to replace the screen, as if i damaged the TV. I called Sumsung to register a querry and explain my side of the story. I have requested Sumsung to come and examine the TV so they can see that the technician worked on the TV and replaced the motherboard before the TV screen had cracked.

I have asked Sumsung to provide me with an answer as to why the technician would have repalaced a motherboard if the TV had such a big crack beforehand? Unfortunately, its now been more than 3 weeks after the TV stopped working and Sumsung has failed to help me or finalize the case. No formal or objective investigation has been instituted by Sumsung, they have not come to examine the damaged TV, they seem to be standing by their Technician's story.

This is terrible service by Sumsung to a customer who has bought more that 4 TV's from them in the last 5 years. The worst service I have received. Sureley, an appointed technician should properly diagnize a TV before working on it, rather than work on it first then claim some damage which he may have caused himself.

After my complaint with Sumsung regarding my 60 inch LED TV which was damaged by the Sumsung appointed technician, Sumsung has not acted any further on this issue. They received a report from their technician and they seem to have decided not to carry out any objective investigation, and verify all facts presented which may have included ispecting the TV set for the work done by the technician. I am still stuck with this damaged TV and Sumsung has not shown any willingness to reach an amicable conclusion based on an objective investigation of what really transpried?
Must i now resort to litigation to have this matter resolved? is this how Sumsung treats its dear customers? are they trying to gloss over this matter hoping I will just forget about it and move on?
