should I be worried that my S7 is going to explode?

My Galaxy s7 edge is about 2 months old, yesterday i picked up my device after it had been untouched for alomst an hour (not on charge) the phone was extremely hot, the power, volume, back and the button left to home key were all not responding oh as well as the finger print sensor was not working. while i was trying to regain control of the device it became scorching hot to the point i had to let go on the phone resulting in it falling into a bit of water - the device is water proof so that shouldnt be an issue right? well diesnt look like it. I picked up the phone (using a cloth) and wiped it down, all of the abover mentioned buttons and functions continued to not work, my screen started flickering and the battery was drained from around 75% straight to 9%. it proceeded to die out and the within the hour or so ordeal the phone died. now my phone is dead, it wont charge or power up (2 month old device i might add) now the biggest concern is what caused the problem, why was the phone scorching hot which is obviosuly not normal, are we having an issue with the 7 series galaxy's? can i let my daughter play/touch my devie without it buring her baby hands? secondly are we being sold dreams of a water proof device? or did i have an unfortunate series of events, perhaps my boiling device fell into water and that caused its demise? its concering when we've been reading about samsung devices and then have this issue? Just to add it is a bit of a bother travelling with a 7 series samsung because flight attendants dont seem to know the difference between a S7 and a Note 7 and we have to go into an indepth explination on how this isnt a note but after yesterdays incident i think they right in assuming the worst.

I've had a Samsung Galaxy s3 4 6 and now 7 and till today ive been a happy chappy, im really starting to considering an apple, we havnt heard or experinced and incidents that can cause a human harm so perhaps it may be the way to go.

regards,

Extremely unhappy loyal client.
