Samsung Update casualty, Now pay over R4000 to fix

I received a notification to update the software on my Samsung Note 2. I downloaded and installed the update, and restarted the phone.
Phone didn't even switch on after the update.
I took it to the Constantia Service Repair Centre, where I had to call them after 9 days to get a status update on the phone, and now they want to charge me over R4000 to fix it.
I can't see why I have to pay R4000 to fix a phone that was in a working condition until I did the software update.
Internet search on all the unhappy customers after Samsung Updates even has a statement from Richard Chetty about the problem that they are aware of, and has asked people to contact customer services, but then they just want to charge you money to fix it.
This stinks like a money making scheme for repair sales turnover and not a customer service driven solution to try help customers affected negatively by the update casualties along the way.

Come on Samsung, fix your Update mess ups and don't fob off the responsibility and expect your customers to have to foot the bill to repair your mistakes.
