Samsung TV Repairs Rip-Off

I took my Samsung 49' UHD TV into a Samsung repair center at the Wedge in Rivonia. The TV was in perfect working condition except for a vertical dark stripe on the right of the screen. Before I could book in the TV, I chatted over whatsapp to a service personnel providing a photo and video of the problem. Surely, if they were competent enough and knowing it is a common problem, they could have quoted me upfront. Instead they requested that i bring in the TV for a non refundable assessment cost of R250. They kept the TV for 3 days. Thereafter, to my astonishment I was quoted just over R5300.00 to repair. This was insanely ridiculous. They quoted unnecessarily for components that didn't need replacement. I had googled and discovered it was a common problem with the back light. I spoke to the manager and was told that this was the price of the parts from Samsung. I strongly believe that Samsung products are highly rated but their after sales service is terrible. I will definitely not recommend a Samsung product to any friend or family.
