Samsung selling functionless smartphone

Bought a Samsung j5 SM-J500F. After the usual updates and downloading 3 apps (whatsapp, uber and camscanner) my phone gives a warning that the memory if full and that some features may not work properly. Try to delete apps to optimise memory use. Apps that come with phone cannot be deleted. Add SD card. SD card cannot be formatted as internal memory so cannot add any more apps until memory freed up. Catch 22 Samsung sells me phone with full memory blocks me from freeing up memory and blocks me from expanding memory.

Samsung followed up with me today 30-11-2017. They showed me a partial workaround for the epic memory shortage i enjoy on my new samsung J5. Open Apps open Tools open Files open Device Storage then look for downloaded app. If you are lucky you will a) find app b)long click app c)choose More d)choose Move e)move app to SD card. You cannot do this with any of the 3.7Gb's worth of apps that you also cannot delete from the phone. Nor is it possible to see all apps in this folder (Uber for example does not appear so cannot be moved). So if you are lucky you have only downloaded 'moveable' apps. All on all not a great or dependable workaround. Just let people format SD cards as internal memory. As can be done on the lowly R899 vodacom 7' tablet turning a budget tablet into a really useful and useable device. I don't understand this need to throttle storage? Surely the purpose of a smartphone is App use. Surely getting people to download and try out/test/experience as many apps as possible is an industry wide aim? Why else buy a smartphone? Like everyone else with a 4 or 8Gb samsung phone I will not be trying out any app not absolutely essential to me. Maybe on my tablet..
