Samsung SA bullying me to pay for repair for their bad product

I bought a Samsung phone and a Samsung Gear fit 2 Pro watch on the 7th of August 2018. Earlier this year, the strap of the watch broke. I just kept quiet and got a new strap. Eventually the watch stopped counting steps and monotoring heart rate. I was in Ghana and could not bring the watch to Samsung in South Africa until the week before last week. I was told to take it to the service centre in the Grove, as this is where the technician was. I went there and was told that he is not there on the Friday afternoon at 2 PM and the only option they told me was to book the watch in and pay the assessment fee of R350.00 immediately. I questioned this, but was told he had personal problems and went home. SO I had no option of getting his opinion first, etc. I just had to pay R350. I paid it. Then by the Wednesday I have not heard from them, I phoned. I held on forever and eventually managed to speak to him and he said he is looking at it and will phone me back in two hours. Of course he did not phone back. 4 hours later I phoned again and he said he sent a quotation, but in actual fact I had to phone another 2 times and email them before they sent the quotation that afternoon late. I also in the mean time send an email to the Samsung SA customer service centre complaining about the lack of service. This lady phone me that afternoon and I explained to her that he said over the phone that is will be more than R2200 to repair. I explained to her that I am not happy, as the watch broke before warranty was over, I am happy to provide proof that I do not live in SA full time, and I want them to escalate the matter as I do not see why I should pay more than R2200 for something that did not last to the end of warranty first of all and secondly, when the problem arose, I googled to see if it might be a setting issue, etc and saw on the internet that this problem is a huge issue with these watches. People around the world have the same problem. So, I do not see why I should pay over R2200 from my pocket for something Samsung should take responsibility. Firstly she did not listen to have of what I said and secondly she basically bul**** me by saying she is going to close my case as I refuse to have the watch repaired and pay for it myself. I told her she cannot close the case as the matter is not resolved yet. I email Samsung again. The same woman phoned me again and basically bul**** me again, saying let us fix the watch and you pay for it, or I close the case. I said no, you need to escalate it, I do not think this is fair. However, this is the final verdict from them. She tells me I refuse their services and that is why she is closing it. I am not refusing their service, I am begging them to come to the party. I have bought a Samsung product, and I cannot use it. It is a problematic product on Samsung side. Why are they punishing me? The repair cost more than half of the watch's price and it the defect is the very core purpose of the watch. This is bullying of the worse kind! I want Samsung to help me. My husband and I only buy Samsung phones, tablets and computers. Will they bully as like this every time their product fails in a short period of time. I am even prepared to meet them halfway, but they will not even discuss it. So I am left high and dry - pay R2260 or go away!

Thank you for your reply. However, I have been in contact with your Customer Department over the last few days and they are the very ones who bully me! So, unless someone more senior is contacting me, I am not prepared to have any more conversations with the lady who I have spoken to to date. From her response, it is clear that one deals with a person at Samsung, not a business as she is not not prepared to escalate my issue or do anything further than just bully me into paying or else she closes the case.

Dear Samsung

Clearly you are just trying to protect your poor reputation by replying to a post on Hello Peter with reference numbers and saying you will revert and look into it - this is for the rest of the world to see how speedily you see to problems, but you are clearly just trying to fool everyone, because it seems like you are not doing anything about the query behind the scenes. So, for everybody who read this post, this is an update an entire week later and not a word from Samsung. I need to leave the country again soon, and Samsung is not interested in doing anything about the very poor quality watch they have sold me and did not last. Samsung, what do you want me to do now?

Good day, Samsung

I got a phone call from the Grove branch from Jones on the Sunday before I left SA again. He told me my watch is ready. I got there on the Monday, just to be told no, we made a mistake phoning you, your watch is not ready. I phone the customer service centre of Samsung again from there, but they just said we have told you already, we are not going to do anything for you, your case is closed! Is this is Samsung's attitude, please do know that I am done with Samsung for life from now on - I have been a huge supporter of Samsung. So from now on, it will be Apple for my family then, if Samsung continues to bully me like this and not taking responsibility for their inferior product. I have told the people instore and I want to make it clear now too, I will start a campaign against Samsung and I will not have to go far to find supporters, because this specific model watch is problematic and Samsung is making customers pay for their mistake!
