Samsung S8 screen replacement
I’m writing this email with utter disappointment.
I upgraded my contract in December 2017. My Samsung S8 is now only 3 months old and already I have a cracked screen. This happened without the phone even being dropped. Something in my handbag pressed against it and the screen cracked. I love my phone! What made me even more upset is that when I went to find out about it being repaired, I was told that it would cost me about R5000!
I was THEN only told about the ADH, and that I had to join within the 1st month to qualify. Why wasn’t I told this from the beginning? The phone is new, hardly 3 months old! Why doesn’t these smart care products get advertised more or even included in your contracts? I would have made sure to have the cover seeing that this is the most expensive phone I have ever bought. It’s very sad how this ADH cover changed from 12 months free cover to 1 month just before the S8 came out?
Not any of my older Samsung phones ever had this happened to them, even if they were dropped. One would think that the more expensive the handset get, the stronger they get. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Samsung phone, it is just that the one thing that is prone to break, break so easily and then you have to pay an arm and a leg to get it fixed. Not even to talk about the ‘Warranty’ that doesn’t even cover the screen… everything else, but not the screen. Where does the ‘Treating the Customer Well’ or ‘Treating the Customer Fairly’ come in?
What about the ‘Consumer protection act’ that aims to “promote fairness, openness and good business practices”?
My phone is basically brand new, and can’t afford R5000 cash just to have the screen replaced. Is there any way I can be assisted in this regard?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
