Samsung S7 Edge has pushed me over the edge!!!!
In August 2016 my husband got a brand new Samsung S7 Edge for me as a birthday gift on contract. Something he was wary of getting me because of the curved screen but the sales consultant in MTN assured me that it was made from Gorilla Glass 8 and will not crack easily, it would have to be with major and intentional force. In November 2016 (3 months later) I dropped my phone (even though it had a phone cover and protective plastic over it) and it cracked, so ADH repaired it free of charge. I received my phone about 2 weeks later.
Then in March 2017, it was driven over by a car and smashed, I then took it to D and D Electronics in East London and they promised to have it fixed in 3 to 4 weeks. I called them the 4th week and they said they are awaiting the screen which would arrive that Friday. I called again the next week (5 weeks) and they still had not received the screen, so they asked me to give them another 7 working days. I then called again at 6 and a half weeks and my screen had still not arrived. I then collected my damaged phone and called Samsung and Tshepisho in the service tracking department arranged for my phone to be collected and repaired in JHB. I had to pay it off over 2 months with my credit card as the limit was not high enough to do it in one payment. I received my phone back about 2 weeks ago. So my phone was in for repairs a total of 16 weeks for this incident).
Then on the 28th of July, I was walking with my phone in my hand, I went to sit down and I was reading a whatsapp message and tried to wipe what looked like a stray hair on my phone and as I wiped I noticed the screen was cracked. Only this time, I did not bump, drop or scratch it. I immediately contacted Angelica and Refilwe from the Samsung care Centre in JHB that repaired my phone and asked why this had happened.... I also requested that they collect and repair the phone again as there is a 3 Months Warranty on Parts Replaced and Workmanship. Since that email, I have sent another 5 emails to them with only 2 stupid responses back (like your phone is ready for collection when I had the phone in my hand and the other to say that she had sent it to the wrong person). On the 4th of August, Giliana responded and apologized and promised that she will handle this for me. Well after another 3 emails with no response from Samsung and I now can no longer call them. So I called Samsung and spoke to Mark because Tshepisho was not available and it is now the 17th of August and I have not received any calls or emails with regards to my phone. (Waiting for repair for 3 weeks)
When I was deciding between phones at MTN, I loved the Samsung S7 Edge but did not want to take it because I was afraid of the screen getting damaged, so I was going to go for the normal S7, the consultant assured me that it is not easy to damage the screen as it is the new Gorilla Glass. Well in 1 year that phone has been damaged 3 times, 2 of which were my fault, this 3rd time, I did nothing that could have caused it. My husband has been paying for this phone for 13 months now and I have only been able to use the phone for 7 of those months because for 21+ weeks the phone has been waiting for repairs.
I just feel that this phone's screen is not gorilla glass and this last repair was even worse because as I said, I did nothing to cause the hairline crack. I would like for this phone to please be repaired at no cost to me, so that I can sell it and use that money to pay off the remaining amount on the phone because this birthday gift has just been such a heartsore for me. I have packed my phone away because I don't want to make the damage even worse.
In total, the Samsung S7 Edge has pushed this homeschool mom off the EDGE!!!!
