Samsung S4 battery issues

I have a problem with my battery. it is swollen. Read the views on line and saw that Samsung is aware of this and will replace the battery. Went to 11th Avenue was told the phone is more than a year old so no free exchange. Battery must be bought. Not my problem if the battery only started swelling after a year. Samsung global accept there is a problem with batteries. What is the problem here???<br> <br> Ritesh
