Samsung Products are of Poor Quality, Poor Longevity and Samsung offer Extremely Poor Backup Service

Late 2012 [6.5 years ago] I bought a 60 inch Samsung TV for R25000-00 ( Model PS60E550D )

The was supposedly one of the better 60” TV’s at the time and I was very chuffed with my purchase. I wall mounted the TV and it has been in the same spot ever since – until 2 weeks ago when the screen suddenly went Black.

I called Samsung and was advised to take it to Liptronics in Parow, Cape Town [Samsung repair centre Western Cape]. Upon their inspection, which cost R250-00, I was called and told to fetch my TV as it was unrepairable. I was rather surprised and asked them what I should do with it and their reply was most disturbing – They advised me to throw it away as it was old and outdated and they don’t carry the spares for it.

I proceeded to contact Samsung South Africa where I was told that they cannot help and buying a new TV is the only option. Now please consider this TV was purchased in 2012 for R25000-00 - Not small change.

Then consider that there are many people who work hard for a luxury like this - To be told that the TV is old, outdated and un-repairable after 6.5 years is ludicrous , which obviously points to the quality and longevity of Samsung products.

I can only think that if Samsung could sort out the problem , at my cost of course , I would have considered it normal business practise. Even if they had to make me an offer and/or assist me with a new purchase, I would have thought that …well, here is a company that stands behinds its products and services, but to be told to dump it as its old and outdated , I am left speechless – do Samsung TV’s only last 6.5 years and then must be thrown out and replaced if something goes wrong?

I will also never again purchase a Samsung purely out of principle and certainly hope that other buyers out there take note of my issue and Samsung’s response.

Really poor Samsung – poor in every way imaginable. Ex Samsung Product owner …

Hello Samsung, thank you for responding, however can you please advise what use a Reference number is to me. I have already spoken to the Voice of Samsung and their feedback was the same as in my original submission. They also advised that up to 5 years, Samsung will consider assisting me, however because my TV is older than 5 years (its 6.5 years old), they cannot assist me and Samsung do not hold spares. They advised that there is nothing they can do/prepared to do except for me to purchase a new TV - is something now going change?. My original submission stands as I believe everyone should be aware of this - Samsung Products are of Poor Quality, Poor Longevity and Samsung offer Extremely Poor Backup Service. If Samsung are prepared to assist a loyal customer (to date) in some way and not "fob" me off, then perhaps I will change my opinion, and my review, however as nothing has happened to date to change my view. In all honesty, less words and more action is what is required.

Hello Samsung, so its been 4 days without a response, a phone call or feedback of any form. I am still trying to figure out what the Reference number was for - it looks more and more like it was to fob me off and make out as if Samsung cares? I hope Samsung owners around the globe are seeing this feed and the way Samsung treat their loyal customers. A once near top-of-the-range TV - 6.5 years later - throw it away as Samsung do not keep spares. Really poor approach and customer service.
