Samsung phone Androis OS Data Usage

Hello Peter
My name is Thabang Liphoto and I have been a loyal Samsung customer for more than 10 years now.
I am recently having a problem on my Samsung J5 device where the Android OS is using too much data. I have set my phone to avoid updating the Operating System or other applications while on mobile, I only update the applications on WiFi. The data usage on my phone has been ok for all the years until the beginning of 2017 where it went crazy.
Just to give you a summary in December I used 11MB just for Android OS, in January 55MB, in February 88MB, now for the period of 10 days I have already used 306MB just on the Android OS and I decided to disable my data today on the 03/03/2017.
My problem is that the operating systems should not be using data as it will have to operate whether I have enabled data or not, but minimal data is understandable that it might be due to the background requirements. But now using an average of 30MB a day versus 11MB a month that I used to use last years doesn't make sense to me.
I called Samsung ***number for assistance and they have advised me to take the phone to Samsung Smart Care Centre for assistance which i am going to do next week, but they are not taking ownership of the problem. I also called MTN but they denied that they are part of the problem as the operating system is controlled by the phone.
I then investigated for 2 days and found out it is not only myself, I checked about 25 different Samsung devices, 10 including mine are on MTN contract who have the same problem as me where they Android OS is using too much data since 2017 started, 5 are on MTN prepaid and the data usage is still ok, the other 10 are on Vodacom, Cell C and Telkom and they have no problem too. That gave me the conclusion that the people affected are the Samsung users on MTN Contract and maybe my device has no problem.

My problem is both MTN and Samsung are not taking responsibility for this and I have to keep on using data without a solution.
This is a serious problem as data is very expensive this days and the world revolves around data so this is very big problem for me.
Regards
Thabang Liphoto
********** 721
