Samsung OTA update bricked my Note 2

I received an OTA update on my Note 2 on a Wednesday night, I let it download and went to sleep, Thursday morning i saw the download was complete and let the device install the update. During the course of Thursday morning i noticed the phone kept switching off, this started at about 9am. I kept switching it on also noticed my battery level was dropping at a rate of nots as well. By 11:30 my phone would not switch back on, all i would get is the \Galaxy Note II"screen flashing repeatedly. I took the phone to the Samsung repair centre in the Westrand and was told that its going to cost 3k to have it fixed. Why should i pay when the phone wad working perfectly before the update? Yes its older model but still"
