samsung Note 9 and Samsung Policy very poor
I upgraded to a Samsung Note 9 - supposedly one of the best phones on the market today. What ever you do - do not get this phone - its absolute ******* Within 6months the camera was not working and the speakers were blown. I took the phone to Vodacom 4 ways for repair. I was informed that Samsung Policy is that any work under warranty requires software upgrade. Despite my pleas I was told that if I did not authorise the upgrade then I would have to pay approx. R4000 to repair the phone. I duly lost all my WA data as nobody told me that I had to back this up before the upgrade and Samsung Smart-switch doesn't backup WA OK - be aware other than losing data - you have to reinstall any banking App at the bank itself - in my case Absa, Capitec and Investec - to get the Apps working - and many other Apps such as Outsurance etc . In short this stupid mandate of Samsung cost me 2 days off work and time and travel to each bank and re-installing lost Apps. In addition and after the upgrade certain Apps like Snote cannot be used - in short your phone is left in a mess- and they remove your shatterproof screen - cost approx. R350 for the latter. Within 10 days of the fixing of my phones camera and speakers both items were not working again. The thought of the slog to reinstall apps and banking etc after the coming mandated software upgrade to fix the phone once again is vexious to the soul and your pocket My advice - never buy a Samsung Note 9 - the hype around this phone launch was an evident misrepresentation and Samsung havnt a clue how many problems are created around there mandatory software upgrade - stay faaaaar away - my last Samsung product.
