Samsung Note 4 update burnt out my motherboard

My wife has a Samsung.Note 4 on contract with Vodacom. 2 years ago she chose not to upgrade due to the issue with the Note 7 (and because she loves her Note 4) that was until this past month and a recommended Samsung update. Then the problems started. Phone switches off and you have to remove battery and reinsert a couple of times to get it working again. Or it reboots by itself to the little green man. Thought it might be battery so bought a new Samsung battery. No luck. It did another update and phone restarted but never came on again. Took it to Samsung service centre this morning. Motherboard has burnt out. Researched on internet and found worldwide issue with Note 4 with burnt motherboard after a Samsung update. Now what now? It was a Samsung update that caused this and it appears Samsung is quite aware that it could damage Note 4's yet has not done anything to prevent my phone from burning out. This is usually a trick Iphone does to force you to upgrade. Never expected it from Samsung. All our phones and tablets and tv's are Samsung precisely because i have always assumed Samsung's reliability and back up support was superior. Now this make me wonder. What is Samsung going to do abt the damage to my phone caused by their update?
