Samsung J6 Cellphone

I have a Samsung J6 cellphone which I have had for a year. From time to time Samsung adivse to download upgrades to the software on the phone. Two days ago I received such a notification. I downloaded the software upgrade and after it was installed I find I cannot access anything on my phone as the screen will not unlock. The swipe action is non functional. I have Googled this problem and followed the instructions. Nothing helps. I have taken it to Cell C and they cannot help me. I have taken it to a cellphone repair agent and I have been told that a full factory reset might have to be done but then I will loose all my data including holiday photos. This is unacceptable that Samsung's software has caused this problem. I have also noted on Google that others have had the same experience

Reviewer Update
Well that was a waste of time. They tell me the problem was probably caused by a break in the downloading of their software upgrade which has caused the screen to freeze but could not tell me how to solve the problem. It seems to be a case of it's your problem and not ours. One Samsung J6 which is 1 year old now a piece of expensive junk. Don't think I will ever buy another Samsung product again which is a shame as I have always used their cellphones and tv's.
