Samsung Gallaxy S5 Charger Cover

My Galaxy S5 charger port cover broke off after about a year of use. I have heard from a few other S5 owners that have had same problem. I took the phone to Samsung in Cape Town and was told that this is not covered under the warranty because it broke rather than pulled out. In my opinion, this is a design fault as it broke due to repetitive use, i.e. fatigue - it seems the warranty will only apply if you don't use it! So now the phone is no longer water proof and this was the main reason I chose it over the HTC.
