Samsung Galaxy S22
I recently upgraded my cellphone to a Samsung Galaxy S22. I received the phone on 5 February 2023, but only activated it on 11 and 12 Ferbaury 2023 and moved all my info across. I charged the device on 15 February 2023, which means I had the phone for barely 3 days. Whilst charging the phone, it exploded at the charging point on the phone. With the explosion, it set an alarm off and I could not use it anymore. The paint at the charging port on the phone also came off and there was black stuff coming out. After several phone calls, I took the phone to Telkom to send for repair. A couple of days later, I received a message from Triple SSS cellular that they have looked at the phone and they have detected water damage and the screen has deep scratches on it. I explained once again what happened and that there was no water in sight when I was charging the phone. They basically told me it was my fault and I need to pay R6000.00 upfront to get it fixed. I then contacted Samsung for further assistance which has been a negative experience. Samsung, after many phonecalls, said they understand what I am saying but they have read the technical report from Triple SSS and that is how it is. There is water damage and the screen is cracked and there is nothing more thay can do. If I want to fix it I need to pay R6000.00 upfront - no negotiations. I find this to be unacceptable as the phone was NEW, I have never had it near water or dropped it. How can there be water damage if no water was near the phone? The service from both Telkom and Samsung has been disgusting! The person from Samsung said he will send a final rejection letter which I can escalate, but won't do me any good to do so. Very disappointed.
