Samsung Galaxy A20

My wife bought a new Samsung galaxy A20. we had constant problems with the signal strength. we assumed that it was because of the coverage in our area. After a few months the phone would freeze and then switch off on its own. eventually the phone refused to switch on at all. Since it was still under warranty we took the phone back to Truworths East Rand mall where we purchased the phone. It was sent away for repairs in December 2019. We were then told that the repairs were for our cost even though the phone was still under warranty because of a few tiny scratches on the back cover. The cost of the repairs totaled more than the purchase price of the phone. we contacted the Samsung customer care department to enquire as to why a few tiny scratches constitute negligence on our part. they told us that they would call us back after giving us a reference number. no one did. we always had to call them for updates. The phone is still with the repair centre in Rivonia - MM all electronics. Samsung is still insisting that the phone not working is due to negligence on our part but if a few small scratches can cause the phone to fail then what does it say about the quality of their product. My wife has had a few Samsung phones before and both my sons have Samsung phones but after this I would not advise anyone to purchase Samsung phones as they will not honor their warranty for whatever reason they see fit.

why do I have to contact Samsung all the time and not get any response from them except for a reference number? Everytime we needed feedback we had to call. The call centres claim that they did try to contact us on both numbers provided but we never received any calls from them. There are no missed calls on my phone log at all from them. Is that another defect on the Samsung phones that we should be concerfned with?
