SAMSUNG DODGES WARRANTY OBLIGATIONS

My S7 Edge started displaying a pink line down the right hand side of the screen, and then progressed into the screen flickering white making it impossible to see the screen. However all functions still work, i.e. I can still use the phone as normal, it's just that I cannot see the screen.

A quick google showed that it's clearly a manufacturing issue and the screen is failing. (There is plenty evidence of this)

The pink line started 2 months ago, and the white flickering a few weeks ago.

Shortly after the white flickering, I got a compression crack in the bottom left corner (not over the actual screen but on the "Recent button"). And although the phone has had a few minor bumps, it has never been dropped from height, and the crack not only occurred after the problem started, but was not from the phone being dropped.

I took it into the service center in Cape Town, and they stated outright that although the problem definitely sounds like the screen failing and would be a warranty issue, they will not honor the warranty due to the crack!

Basically Samsung VOIDS their manufacturing warranty if you have any physical damage. They don't have to honour ANY of their obligations to their clients if there is a scratch on the phone... that is a complete joke. They then use this fact to try squeeze more money out of you to repair a phone that should be working!!!

Someone then phoned me from Samsung to re-explain the above and was extremely demeaning asking things like "was the warranty not explained to you when you bought the phone"! Like somehow it makes a difference to understand just how well Samsung has written their T&C's to have no obligations to their (soon to be ex) clients.

It's extremely unprofessional and pathetic that Samsung is using a completely unrelated issue with my phone to dodge their warranty obligations!

I have had every Galaxy S models since the S3, and they are ALL still working. (I'm currently using my S5, and I tested my S3 yesterday).

I am not the cause of the issue with the S7 Edge screen!

If this is how Samsung treat their obligations to their clients, they will permanently lose my business altogether - on all their products.

Samsung is placing the cost of a warranty repair over maintaining me as a client.
