SAMSUNG 40" FLAT SCREEN TV - Don`t waste your money
This is the first time I’m doing something like this….So here I go…..
I bought a Samsung 40" Flat screen TV from GAME - Keywest on the 7-10-2014, I had the TV for 5 months (1-3-2015) and then it showed a grey line at the bottom of the screen. Game then instructed me to bring the TV to their shop in Keywest and they will send it away for repairs seeing it is still under warranty. I did that and the repair took 3 and half weeks. Got the TV back and everything seemed to be fine. Then 15 months (28-6-2016) later the TV gave me the same problem (Grey line at the bottom) after witch I phoned Game and they gave me the same procedures as before. When I took the TV in for the second time I asked them, is this normal for a TV to break this often because I only have a 2 year warranty on the TV and I’m starting to get worried. They then ensured me that it’s not normal but they will make sure it’s fixed and it will not happen again. The repair took about 2 weeks this time and the TV looked fine. I can`t remember the exact date but 5 months later (11-2016) the problem was re-occurring, only now the grey line was on top.... I phoned Game and they told me that the TV is out of warranty (a month) and I will have to pay for any repairs done to the TV. I asked them “Due to the fact that the TV has been back to them twice with the same problem and now again with the same problem don`t they think that maybe this TV is a dutt..” Their reply was “that’s is impossible” . Needless to say I didn`t take it back to Game, I told them ” It’s now the 3rd time it packed up in 2 years, how many times will I have to pay for repairs" and I left the matter there. Then 7 months later (6-2017) we were watching TV (with the grey line on top) and all of a sudden I saw smoke coming out of the back of the TV I immediately unplugged the TV and took it outside because of the smell, I then phone my insurance to see it they (Standard Bank) can help me. The TV went to them and they told me that the TV had short circuited without damaging the safety fuse and therefor the claim was denied.
My question is this: (1) When you buy a TV (ALSO NOT THE CHEAPEST ONE) and within the 1st 2 years It breaks 3 times then all most burns your house down... is this normal for SAMSUNG. (2) I did speak to SAMSUNG and their reply was pay for the repair or throw it away. (3) I told Samsung that I have a HISENSE 32" Flat screen that's twice as old as the Samsung and the HISENSE has never given me any problems (NOT ONCE) (4) Is there anyone out there that had the same problem with their SAMSUNG TV`s....... (5) I also asked SAMSUNG if it`s possible to get a “assembly/build slip” to see if the serial number on the outside corresponds with the parts inside (to make sure nothing has been changed or replaced) I`m still waiting for a reply from SAMSUNG.
I do have all documentation to proof all of the above mentioned. My purchase slip, 2 repair bills with their repair sticker that was stuck on the back of the TV, Standard Bank evaluation letter and pickup slip and all the people I spoke to….FOOD FOR THOUGHT - I bought a Samsung TV on 7 October 2014 which is 2 years and 11 months ago and it caught fire in June 2017 plus the 6 weeks for repairs that gave me 19 months and two week with a TV instead of 35 months, makes you think.
WARNING Just to be on the safe side "PLEASE IF YOU DO HAVE A SAMSUNG TV UNPLUG IT WHEN YOU GO TO WORK OR HOLIDAY AT LEAST YOU WILL HAVE A HOUSE TO COME BACK TO…!!!
