Ridiculous service and weak phones!

Today my husband dropped off a one month old Samsung J5 at the Samsung Smart centre in Century City, Cape Town. A quote was received for more than the value of the phone in it's entirity. Tatum advised that this was due to liquid damdge. I have been personally responsible for the phone for the duration of it's 1 month existence, and unless having the phone in the kitchen with me (not spilling anything on it), causes liquid damage, then either the "diagnosis" is BS or the phone is a piece of ****, because NO phone should be deemed liquid damaged if it has not been submerged in water. Firstly, the phone is 1 month old and should be covered under warranty, but as a matter of interest, I wanted to find out why the quote to repair is more than the value of the phone. I called the Samsung Smart centre on ********** at 17:55. The girl who answered tried to transfer me to Tatum, but she had left at that time due to her being in a liftclub (even though the centre is meant to close at 6pm, not a minute before. The girl I spoke to mentioned that my husband might previously had spoken to a Michaela, so it wasn't Michaela responsible for the most absurd thing I could ever have heard from a service representative. When I asked how the quote for repair of a phone can be more than the cost of the phone, this woman had the nerve to tell me to then go out and buy a new phone. ARE YOU SERIOUS????? These are the people you employ to speak to your customers? You can private message me to find out the phone number I called from if that will help you trace who I spoke to, but I demand Samsung find out who it was and action be taken. After she made her snide comments about me buying a new phone, I told her I no longer wanted to speak with her and wanted to be put through to her manager. Surprise surprise, the girl who had no regard for the customer in the first place hung up on me. I need the following things to happen: 1. Explain to me how a one month old Samsung J5, which switched on all the way to the home screen (simply touch screen was not working) costs more to repair than a new phone? 2. Why is this not covered under warranty? 3. How a phone that has never been submerged in water, never so much as taken into the bathroom with me, the most water the phone could have been exposed to is in the kitchen, but no droplets even on the phone, how it can be liquid damaged? 4. Who that awful employee was and 5. What action will be taken (in terms of the phone and the RUDE Samsung representative).

Seems like Samsung just doesnt give a damn as long as they have made money from selling a phone or can make money from repairing their faulty phones. Every time I have tried to follow up as to how a month old phone could have a corroded motherboard, I get told that it must have been something I did. When I explain that the phone was working perfectly (never so much as freezing or switching off) prior to the touch creen not working - while disembarking a plane, I get told that it is somehow my fault. Michaela from Samsung Smart centre certainly made a point of that when I asked for feedback on my case. I emailed the technician copied into my quote on Monday, 19 June 2017, as well as followed up today, not a peep heard back from him, I called Samsung head office, and was apparently being transferred to the person dealing with my claim. That didnt materialise. It seems that since I havent agreed to the ridiculous quote because I dont have a proper explanation as to how a one month old phone can have a corroded motherboard, I am not a customer worth helping. This is the most pathetic service I have EVER received. The most I have gotten from Samsung regarding this matter is a generic auto-response. Samsung - the money-hungry, no customer service corporation who create **** and try to ***** from their clients. Truly ridiulous.
