Ridiculous Repair Costs
Samsung charge R2500 and you have to travel to the boondocks to replace a cracked screen on the Galaxy S3. This is outrageous and appears to be largely because of very poor design - I would say a brainless design or they cynically banked on making millions out of replacing screens. I am not a product designer but even I know that it is idiotic to design a cellphone where the glass screen cannot be replaced on its own and instead the whole display and screen need to be replaced at huge cost. There is nothing wrong with the display itself. Samsung must have known that the screen is brittle and easily breaks and yet they design it in this fashion? They are either frankly stupid designers or, as I say, cynically and deliberately chose brittle glass and a design that would require the replacement of the display too. Cracked screens must be the most common damage to a cellphone and if you look at the S3 design the glass curves right to the extreme edges. why no buffer area to minimise the risk of the glass breaking? Frankly, the insides may be good quality but their designers must be either brain-dead or the most impractical people on earth. Or the most cynical.
