Repeated PC Board Failures: Disappointing Experience with Samsung Washing Machine

I purchased a high-end Samsung washing machine, expecting top-notch quality. Unfortunately, it has been a series of disappointments. A few short years after the purchase, the machine broke down, and I had to pay for a PC board replacement. Just 18 months later, the same issue occurred, and I was charged again for another PC board replacement. Shockingly, six months after that, the machine broke down once more, and yet again, I am being charged for another PC board replacement, only the motor is given free as its covered under 10 years warranty. Samsung only guarantees their repairs for three months, which is incredibly frustrating.

None of my other electronics have had any issues, making this experience even more disappointing. Each repair costs over R4000, and by now, I could have bought a new machine. This is far from the quality and reliability I expected from Samsung.

I had a deeply disappointing experience with Samsung customer support. From the outset, the support representative repeatedly emphasized that they couldn’t promise any resolution before even attempting to help, setting a negative tone for the entire interaction.

When Samsung called, they claimed the issue with my machine was due to me moving it against the wall. However, I hadn’t moved the machine since their technician last repaired it six months ago. The representative dismissed my explanation as hearsay. Despite this, a technician arrived at my home and was much friendlier than the support staff. He installed a brand-new PC board, only to discover that the new board from Samsung was also faulty. I dare them to say it’s hearsay now, as I have it in writing that it’s a factory fault.

The repeated failures of the PC board, even straight from the factory, highlight poor quality control. No other device in my home has required so many repairs. To make matters worse, I was originally told via email that a new part would arrive in a week’s time on 14 August. When I called to check on the status, I was informed that the part wouldn’t arrive until September. It’s hard to believe it takes a month to get a replacement part. Now, my machine is going to get its fourth PC board replaced. Three PC boards have already failed!

After finally receiving the part and delivering my machine, the exact same issue persists. The Samsung repair service has been absolutely terrible and expensive.

Less than 10 months after they replaced the motor, the motor has failed.
