Repairs to Samsung A3 - device warranty was ceased due to the dent marks on the rear case which is considered to be physical damage as per the manufacturer policy

Hi All

So here is my experience with Samsung regarding manufacturer’s policy.

My daughters’ cell phone died on 23 December 2016. She had switched it off after receiving a what's up and has since been unable to switch back on.

I have taken this phone to SSS Cellular that does repairs for Samsung and I have been advised the following by Samsung:

Because there are dents and damages to the outer casing of this phone they are calling it physical damages in which case, I will have to pay for the repairs in accordance with the manufacturer’s policy. My issue with this is that prior to the 23rd we had no problem with the phone. It was charging (this is actually a replacement phone that we only got in May 2016 due to the loss of the previous one.) I now have to still pay for this phone as I bought it via a bank. On top of that I now have been quoted approximately R3 500 to have the phone repaired. The issue is, that according to the technicians, the phone was overheating and therefore the main board is faulty. This, I assume is the reason why the phone died, however the problem between the faulty board which should be a manufacturing problem and the dents on the outer casing should not be a manufacturing problem.

So heads up in future when buying a cell phone from any cellular company a question should be asked that if you drop your phone but there is a problem with the device on the inside, will it be covered under the manufacture’s warranty.

As much as I love my Samsung and I have only bought Samsung since the 1st one I will not be purchasing from Samsung again.

I am now still required to pay the bank off for the device, as well as an approximated R3 500 for repairs.

NOT WORTH IT!

Very unsatisfied customer

Jill Brest ( ********** 224) after 4pm
