Refusing to repair fridge
We purchased a Samsung Fridge (RB31FSRNDWW/UO) on the 5 April 2015 from the Samsung Clearwater Mall branch.
Due to various power outages in the year the power unit was replaced on the 19 May 2015. (Service order number: ********** 219)
The power went off again, and went it came back on the fridge was off. We phoned Samsung and they advised us to switch it off at the plug, wait 5 minutes, then switch it on and the fridge will come on. It did come on, they advised that is how it is designed, and its a safety feature.
At the time, we were struggling to get hold of someone to help us, and we either spoke to someone at Samsung Clearwarter branch or on the Samsung support line who told us it was not a problem, but it was a safety feature - at the time same time, a technician wanted to view the fridge, and we advised this would not be necessary, as the other technician advised us that its a safety feature - we did not think more about the problem from then onwards. We went away last year December (2017), and came back to a warm fridge - the fridge had been off for a week and had not come back on, even though we did have power.
I phoned Samsung, and they now say its a fault, but because my warranty is over, they will not fix it.
I am not happy with this, first its a safety measure and we should not worry, but now its not a problem? I want this resolved please - I cannot go away now, because I am worried that my fridge won't come back on if there is a power outage, and the food inside will rot.
I spoke to a lady from the Escalation team about the query I logged ( ********** 080), and she advised she would need to listen to phone recordings to prove that someone said to me its a safety feature - she last spoke to me on the 13th Feb 2018.
I am not trying to **** or take advantage of Samsung, but what it comes down to is: - I was first told its not a problem - After the warranty has ended, now its a problem
I want my fridge to be fixed please, I am willing to pay for the call-out fee, but I will not be paying for the labor or the parts.
