POOR SERVICE FROM MTN AND SAMSUNG
In November 2018 I bought my partner a Samsung J6 from MTN. The phone worked perfectly until June 2019 when she activated an AUTOMATIC DOWNLOAD which had been sent to her phone. Straight after that the phone failed to time out, when in camera mode takes continuous pictures, and does all sorts of strange things. She took it in to a Samsung agent who told her it has water damage. Both her and I know it has not been near water or any liquid. The sales lady at MTN explained it away with two ridiculous statements. Firstly if your phone is near your body it will absorb moisture and secondly if you get a automatic download you must go to the MTN shop. Both were ridiculous. The phone has internal scratches on the silver motherboard which could only have got their when opened by Samsung. They refuse to entertain a request for replacement. Not good enough for a 6 month old phone. Wonderful business model for cellphone shops. Sell the product and make the profit but if it fails shunt the customer to the supplier. As an ex garage industry man we would never push a customer to our supplier. We would deal with the problem and deal with supplier ourselves. I would suggest that customers ask the shop to open the phone at point of sale so that it can be inspected for obvious damage!
