Plasma Television Already Failing

I am very disappointed in Samsung. I bought a plasma TV believing they made quality products. I also had the reasonable expectation that a product costing that much would be made to a high standard. But within months of the warranty expiring the screen started failing. It has developed progressively more fixed coloured lines on the screen. Repair experts indicate that this is the screen failing, and that it cannot be repaired. The screen, the bulk of the cost of the TV, has to be replaced. Even though it is clear this is not an uncommon problem, and that failures appear to typically occur shortly after the warranty period Samsung are not showing any interest in addressing the issue. They suggest taking it to a Samsung Authorized service centre where we will presumably be charged a fee for assessing the fault, and undoubtedly it will take a long time to get back a report confirming what we already know. We would also have to pay them or someone else to transport the TV there and back. I have other TVs, from a different manufacturer, still functioning perfectly after 10 years. This situation with the plasma TV leaves me with no faith in Samsung or the quality of their products.
