One UI 7 problem

I sent the email below to Samsung support which was acknowledged by them and referred to another department. I subsequently wrote a follow up - 3weeks later no response at all: Dear Samsung South Africa Support, I am writing to request your assistance regarding a serious issue I am experiencing with my Samsung Galaxy S23.

Approximately six months ago, my son bought the Samsung Galaxy S24 and gave me his Galaxy S23, which has been functioning flawlessly under my use.

Over the past five months, several Samsung security patches were app**** without issue. When I read about the UI 7 upgrade and all its new features I must admit I was really excited.

However, following the most recent One UI 7 / Android 14 upgrade last week, the phone froze and became completely unresponsive. I took the device to your Cresta Samsung Store who sent it to a Samsung service Centre. I subsequently informed by the Cresta Samsung Store that a non-original screen had been fitted in the past, and that this may be the cause of the problem.

I was not aware that t a non-original screen had been fitted. I was quoted R9000 for a Samsung screen replacement.

I would like to respectfully request that Samsung reconsiders the situation for the following reasons:

- The phone was working perfectly until the One UI 7 update was installed. - I was not informed that applying a Samsung system update could render the phone inoperable due to third-party hardware.

- The update was distributed by Samsung, and I believe it may be a software-induced incompatibility rather than a true hardware failure. The quoted cost of R9000 is prohibitive and, in my view, excessive given that the phone is otherwise in excellent condition. As a loyal Samsung user and an 81-year-old senior citizen, I kindly appeal for your goodwill and technical support.

I respectfully request that:

- Samsung either assists with a goodwill screen replacement, - or provides a software-based workaround to restore the phone to functionality, - or at least offers a discounted repair solution given the nature of the problem. I sincerely hope that Samsung will treat this as an opportunity to demonstrate care for its users, especially where software updates unexpectedly result in a hardware lock-out.

I had a call from a, I think, Samsung Customer Advisor, who said I should send my complaint to specific department in Samsung. I told them that they have my complaint and why dont they simply send it. This seemed to confuse the person but they said they would comply. I then had a call from some other Samsung guy who was asking if I was happy with the Samsung Customer Service - I told him that I wasn't Happy and my experience with the Customer Advisor- and that is the last time I had any communication with Samsung - Pathetic!!!
