Not A Happy Samsung Customer!
Over the years I have bought many Samsung products including phones, a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, TV, stove, washing machine and dryer. I have shown my loyalty to the brand.
I am now contemplating changing this attitude and feel like moving on to a brand that is more reliable, since my brand loyalty is hitting me where it hurts: in the pocket.
I bought a Samsung fridge back in 2012, and picked up the first problem with it in 2013 when the freezer compartment wouldn't freeze anymore. At that point they replaced the thermal fuse and some other sensor.
In 2016 the condenser motor conked in and that had to be replaced at a cost of just under R 2000. The Samsung approved replacement has a warranty of just 3 months.
Last week the freezer acted up again and after calling out the approved repairers, the same motor now has to be replaced again, this time at a cost (including labour) of R 1,677 + R 575 = R 2,252.
This fridge has now cost me more that more than R 10000!
The final blow was when the technician told me that they don't have the part available because they don't break that often, reminded me that there is a 3 month guarantee, and mentioned that the same part can cost less than half the price if they use a part not guaranteed by Samsung and would probably last longer.
