Malicious sales tactics/misrepresentation

Hi

On the 8th Sept 2017 I acquired a Samsung s8plus cellphone through a mtn contract because I was told there was a spring break promotion in which Samsung was offering 2 night's accommodation for 2 at any Protea hotel in South Africa. the whole package is valued at R4k. I then tried to redeem the prize using the instructions on the piece of paper on the same day. I called about 2 different numbers and was eventually given a reference number and told to wait 10 days for the sms that would enable to redeem the prize via a link to the website. I waited 10 days and there was no response. this morning I tried to call again and was sent from pillar to post. eventually I was told I cannot claim the prize because the sms line is closed. it is very disappointing and very regrettable that Samsung is not willing to make good on the promise they made to induce me to buy the phone.

Hi Everyone, Very sadly I would like to report that Samsung has taken me on a wild-goose chase, first requesting that I send them proof that I sent the sms containing the words Samsung and the imei number within the stipulated time. I did send them this proof and then they came back to ask for a reference for the follow-up calls I did to their many call centres. I did that and even gave them the name of the person I spoke to. they have now come back to say they find that my case is invalid and therefore cannot honour what they promised if you purchased the S8 within the specified time. I find this to be a very bogus and unfair decline because I did sms on the 8th September as per the spring break offer promotion and I did not receive a reference to proceed. instead what I got when sms'd is a response saying my imei number had been used already. I then made calls to try and sought it out and I got the reference for those calls. The fact that Samsung's internal systems did not respond to my sms is not my problem. this is a sad day for the consumer in general because you buy a product because you have been promised something additional, then when you do all that is required of you and the seller's systems don't perform, which is no fault of yours, you are taken from pillar to post and then told your reference is not being picked up. thank you Samsung for lying in order to sell me a S8.
