Is Samsung washing machine safe (Started to burn)

Last week we had a big scare, I have two young kids age under 5 and a wife in my home.<br> We normally do our washing at night while we sleep, however this time it was running during the day.<br> My wife started to scream fire I ran into the kitchen to find smoke coming out of our under 5 year old Samsung 13kg diamond drum washing machine. something electrical was burning and the machine had not powered off for safety. so I immediately dropped the power to machine and dragged it outside to protect my home and family.<br> I contacted the Samsung call center and they send a technician out he advised the the main board has sent an incorrect signal to the electrical components that had literately started to burn.<br> My concerns: What happened if I was not home or my family were sleeping, if the board malfunctioned why did it not shut down power. It has been 8 days since the incident and after multiple calls I get a response that I must pay for the repair. Number one why should I pay for repairs and number two and most importantly how can I trust this device going forward in my house knowing what happened.
