Frustration in dealing with Samsung
I recently had a dispute with Samsung regarding a 50” TV which after two years had to have the screen replaced and one year later stopped working altogether. It was subsequently declared “dead” by the repair agents. What has been incredibly frustrating has been Samsung’s clear unwillingness, despite my attempts, to engage with me regarding the particularities of my complaint. The only person I could speak to was the call-center operator who has no decision-making power. Ten days after this engagement, and having sent them a detailed history of the problems I’d had with this TV, they sent me a pro forma document stating that my warranty no longer holds and that they will not engage me further on the issue. In essence, I paid R10 000 for a TV which, having had a screen replaced, lasted me three years!! The above is illustrative of the impersonal service we increasingly receive from powerful transnational corporations like Samsung.
